St. Francis & John

Catholic Parish

St. John's Church is located in Georgetown and St. Francis is located about 15 miles outside of Georgetown. The St. Francis cemetary dates back to the late 1790's along with the burial of a Revolutionary War soldier Bennett Greenwill. Saint Francis de Sales Catholic Church was also called St. Pius in 1820 to 1932. It was established in 1793 by Catholic pioneers migrating from political and religous strife. The parishioners of St. Francis celebrated the first mass in the state on December 1, 1793. St. John's is the larger church of the two and currently has a school that is called St. John's School. They are both beautiful churches that are very pleasureable places to visit.
